Profile

Airi
Yamada

Nail artist / New York

Airi Yamada is a New York–based conceptual nail artist and founder of TRADITIONAiL, exploring the intersection of fashion, material culture, and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Working across runway, editorial, campaign, and private luxury projects, she approaches nails not as decoration, but as an extension of silhouette, narrative, and material expression.

Through TRADITIONAiL, she reinterprets traditional Japanese materials and techniques into contemporary wearable art, creating works that bridge craftsmanship and fashion imagery.

Her practice is rooted in the belief that hands are part of a garment’s visual language. Rather than functioning as surface detail, nails become structural and narrative elements that contribute to the identity of a collection.

Her work has been featured in fashion presentations, editorials, campaigns, and New York Fashion Week productions, including projects for Andrew Kwon, UNIQLO, and GU.
